Deshbandu Tennakoon’s Request: Authorities Considering Permission for Home-Cooked Meals


Prisons Department Spokesperson Responds
 
The Prisons Department is currently reviewing a request made by Deshbandu Tennakoon, who is in remand custody, seeking permission to receive home-cooked meals.
 
According to Prisons Department Spokesperson Gamini B. Disanayake, authorities are assessing the feasibility of granting such a request while ensuring compliance with prison regulations. He further stated that Tennakoon has been asked to provide valid justifications for his request before a final decision is made.
 
Deshbandu Tennakoon was taken into custody in connection with a shooting incident that took place in front of a hotel in Weligama. A warrant had been issued for his arrest, and he surrendered to the Matara Magistrate’s Court approximately 20 days later. Following his surrender, the court ordered his remand until April 3. He is currently being held at the Thaldena Prison.
