Former Minister Mervyn Silva Placed in Remand Custody – Admitted to Prison Hospital


No Special Treatment, Confirms Prison Spokesperson
 
Former Minister Mervyn Silva, who was arrested and placed in remand custody, has been admitted to the prison hospital due to health concerns, according to a senior prison official.
 
Speaking on the matter, Prison Spokesperson Gamini B. Dissanayake confirmed that Silva is currently receiving medical treatment in the special ward designated for newly admitted prisoners.
 
However, the spokesperson emphasized that no special privileges have been granted to the former minister. “He is being treated like any other inmate, without any additional facilities,” the official stated.
 
It is noteworthy that Mervyn Silva was remanded in connection with a land transaction case.
