Government to Launch Affordable & Nutritious Restaurant Initiative


The government is set to launch a nationwide restaurant initiative to ensure food security and provide affordable, nutritious meals. In collaboration with the National Food Promotion Board, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Agriculture, the first model restaurant will open on April 1 in Narahenpita.
 
A second phase will focus on improving existing restaurant standards. Officials discussed food safety, consumer trust, and policy implementation at a meeting today (27) at the Presidential Secretariat. The initiative aligns with the “Clean Sri Lanka” programme, promoting a healthier and safer food culture across the country.
