Parliament to Hold Two-Day Debate on Pattalanda Commission Report


The debate on the Pattalanda Commission Report has been scheduled to take place in Parliament on April 10, with a second session planned for a date in May, according to the Parliamentary Communications Department.
 
Jayalath Perera, Deputy Director of the Communications Department, stated that the first session of the debate will be held on April 10 from 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The discussion will focus on the Commission of Inquiry Report on the Establishment and Maintenance of Illegal Detention Centers and Torture Chambers within the Pattalanda Housing Project. The second session is set to be held on a later date in May.
 
The Pattalanda Commission Report was tabled in Parliament on March 14 by Leader of the House, Minister Bimal Ratnayake. At the time, it was announced that a two-day debate would be held on the findings of the report.
 
Furthermore, it is noteworthy that the Cabinet, under the leadership of President, has already made a policy decision regarding the implementation of actions based on the report’s recommendations.
