Private Bus and Three-Wheeler Catch Fire Suddenly – No Injuries Reported

Two vehicles unexpectedly caught fire today in separate incidents on the Southern Expressway and in the Nuggegoda area.

Private Bus Catches Fire on Southern Expressway

A private bus traveling from Matara to Colombo was engulfed in flames near the 32nd Kilometer Post under the jurisdiction of the Thudugala Police Division.

At the time of the fire, only the driver and one other person were inside the bus. Fortunately, neither of them sustained any injuries, according to police reports.

Firefighters from the Southern Expressway Fire Department swiftly responded and managed to bring the blaze under control. While the incident temporarily disrupted traffic, authorities have confirmed that the expressway has now returned to normal operations.

Three-Wheeler Catches Fire in Nuggegoda

Meanwhile, another fire incident occurred in the Nuggegoda-Kohuwala area this afternoon around 2:30 PM. A three-wheeler traveling along the main road suddenly caught fire, causing panic among bystanders.

Fortunately, quick-thinking pedestrians and locals took immediate action to extinguish the flames before the fire could spread further.

Authorities are currently investigating both incidents to determine the causes of these unexpected fires.
