December 17, Northern Province: Northern Province Governor N. Vethanayagan has expressed his commitment to facilitating the return of Sri Lankan refugees currently residing in Tamil Nadu, India.

Learning another language does not diminish us; instead, it helps us grow and enhances our capabilities. This was emphasized by the Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayagan, during the certificate awarding ceremony for students who completed the Sinhala second-language training program.

Speaking at the Founder’s Day and Awards Ceremony at Meikandan Maha Vidyalayam, he reflected on a time when teachers held unquestioned authority, and students, even when punished, feared reporting it at home.

Northern Province Governor N. Vethanayagan emphasized the need to transform the Northern Province into a developed region by encouraging investments and reforming local governance structures. He made these remarks during the Local Government Month and Reading Month Cultural Festival organized by the Point Pedro Pradeshiya Sabha on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the Point Pedro S.S. Hall.

Northern Province Governor Hon. N. Vethanayagan expressed optimism that the current government would address the region’s challenges during a meeting with Mr. Henry Donat, the UK Secretary for Peacebuilding and Human Rights, at the Governor’s Secretariat Tuesday.
