A total of 203 fatalities have been recorded in road accidents across Sri Lanka between January 1 and February 7, 2025, according to the Police Traffic Control Division. The primary cause of these accidents has been reckless and negligent driving, officials confirmed.

A tragic road accident on the Dambulla-Kurunegala main road in the Thorayaya area claimed the lives of four individuals today, while over 20 others sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the hospital, police reported.
