Soldier Arrested for Attempting to Enter Presidential Secretariat with Rifle Ammunition


A soldier has been arrested for attempting to enter the Presidential Secretariat with a round of ammunition, according to officials from the Presidential Security Division.
 
The arrested individual is a member of the military’s Signal Corps, police sources confirmed. He was reportedly assigned to duty at the Presidential Secretariat.
 
According to police investigations, the soldier had gone on leave to his residence in Lunugamwehera on the 20th of this month and had returned to duty as scheduled.
 
However, upon his return, security personnel at the public entrance of the Presidential Secretariat conducted a routine inspection of his travel bag. During the search, they discovered a concealed round of ammunition for an R-56 rifle, leading to his immediate arrest.
 
Further investigations into the incident are underway.
