In celebration of Maha Shivaratri, all Tamil schools in the Central Province will receive a special holiday on February 27, according to Central Province Education Director Nihal Alagakoon.

This special leave has been granted through the Governor of the Central Province. However, schools have been instructed to compensate for the missed academic activities by conducting classes on Saturday, March 1. The Education Director has urged all Tamil school principals in the province to ensure that these arrangements are followed.

Meanwhile, Tamil schools in the Northern, Eastern, Uva, and Sabaragamuwa provinces have also been granted a holiday on the same day in observance of the festival.
