Substandard Injection Drug Ingredients Seized in Colombo’s Pettah

Consumer Affairs Authority Conducts Raid

Authorities have seized various raw materials used in the production of substandard injection drugs, following a raid conducted by officials from the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA).

The operation took place in the Second Cross Street area of Pettah, Colombo, where CAA officials inspected multiple commercial establishments. The seized materials were reportedly being used to manufacture injections marketed for skin whitening, which authorities have deemed unsafe for public use.

The CAA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, has intensified its crackdown on unauthorized cosmetic products and continues to carry out raids in Pettah and surrounding areas.

In addition to the raw materials for injection drugs, officials have also confiscated several hazardous beauty products that pose serious health risks. The CAA urges consumers to be cautious when purchasing cosmetic and skincare products, warning against the use of unapproved substances that could cause harmful side effects.
