Two Injured in Machete Attack at Ariyampathi Playground – Four Suspects Remanded, Court Orders Arrest of Two More

A violent machete attack at the Ariyampathi Maha Vidyalayam playground has left two individuals critically injured. 
 
 
The attack, carried out by a group of five, took place last Thursday evening (22nd) around 6 PM while a group of youth were engaged in a game under floodlights.
 
The assailants stormed the playground armed with machetes, ruthlessly chasing and slashing two individuals before fleeing the scene. 
 
 
The victims, suffering severe injuries, were immediately rushed to the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital, where they are currently receiving intensive care.
 
Following police investigations, four suspects were apprehended on Sunday night (23rd) and were presented before the Batticaloa Magistrate’s Court today (Monday, 24th). 
 
 
The Magistrate has ordered them to be remanded until March 4th and has further instructed law enforcement to arrest the remaining two suspects and produce them in court.
 
Authorities continue their search for the absconding individuals as investigations into the brutal attack are underway.
