U.S. Ambassador Julie Chung Visits Sri Kotha for Key Discussions


U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie Chung, paid a visit to the headquarters of the United National Party (UNP), Sri Kotha, today for a crucial discussion with the party’s leadership.
 
During her visit, Ambassador Chung met with UNP Chairman and former minister Wajira Abeywardana, along with the party’s General Secretary and former minister Talatha Athukorale. The discussions reportedly lasted for over an hour, focusing on Sri Lanka’s current political landscape and the UNP’s ongoing political activities.
 
Sources from Sri Kotha indicate that the meeting delved into key political developments and strategies, reflecting the growing diplomatic engagement between the U.S. and Sri Lankan political parties.
 
This visit follows Ambassador Chung’s recent discussions with the leadership of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) at their headquarters in Pelawatta and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) at their Nelum Mawatha office, highlighting her active diplomatic outreach across the political spectrum.
