Varuna Jayasundara Assumes Duties as the New Senior DIG of Eastern Province


By Kanagarasa Saravanan Varuna Jayasundara, an experienced legal professional and senior police officer, officially assumed duties as the new Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (SDIG) for the Eastern Province today (14) at the Eastern Province SDIG’s office in Batticaloa.

 

The ceremony was attended by Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) responsible for Batticaloa, Ampara, Trincomalee, and Kantale regions, along with officers-in-charge (OICs) of police stations in the Batticaloa district and other high-ranking police officials.

 

Following a formal guard of honor by the police, the newly appointed SDIG took over his responsibilities.

 

Notably, Varuna Jayasundara has previously served as the commanding officer of the Special Task Force (STF), bringing extensive experience in handling security operations.
