Will SJB Join Forces with UNP?

Deadline Set for March 20 to Announce Decision

Discussions are underway between the United National Party (UNP) and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) regarding a possible alliance for the upcoming Local Government Elections, particularly for the Colombo Municipal Council.

The UNP has officially given SJB until March 20 to make a final decision on whether they will contest together. This decision was conveyed during a meeting held yesterday among senior UNP members.

Furthermore, the UNP has expressed openness to extending the collaboration beyond Colombo to other local councils as well. However, SJB must confirm their stance before the March 20 deadline.

With time ticking, all eyes are now on SJB’s next move—will they join hands with the UNP or go solo?
