Woman Arrested for Hanging Dog After Village Mediation Order Sparks Outrage

(Kanagarasa Saravanan Reporting)

In a shocking turn of events, a 49-year-old woman from the Ottuchuttan area, under the Mangulam Police Division, has been arrested under animal cruelty laws after hanging a dog and uploading the disturbing act on social media.

This incident stems from a peculiar ruling by the Ottuchuttan Mediation Board on Sunday (26th), which ordered the dog involved in an alleged attack on a goat to be handed over to the goat’s owner as compensation.

The Case Unfolds The incident began when a resident, identified as Sachitha, lodged a complaint with the police claiming that her goat was attacked by a neighbor’s dog.

The case was referred to the Ottuchuttan Mediation Board for resolution. The board, comprising a retired school principal, a retired headmaster, and the mother of a village officer, conducted an inquiry.

During the hearing, the goat owner demanded compensation for the damage caused by the dog.

However, when the dog’s owner expressed their inability to pay compensation, the board issued a bizarre ruling — the dog should be handed over to the goat owner as a settlement.

Following this decision, the goat owner took custody of the dog.

Disturbing Act Shared on Social Media Shockingly, instead of resolving the matter peacefully, the woman hanged the dog and shared images of the act on Facebook.

She even sent the photos to the Mediation Board members, seemingly as a form of retaliation or justification.

The gruesome act sparked widespread condemnation on social media, prompting swift action by the police.

Arrest and Legal Action The police, acting under animal cruelty laws, arrested the woman on Monday (27th).

Further investigations are underway, and authorities have stated they will take appropriate action against those involved in this troubling case.

Public Outcry The incident has ignited outrage, with many questioning the Mediation Board’s decision and condemning the brutal act as inhumane.

Animal rights activists have called for stricter enforcement of animal cruelty laws to prevent such incidents in the future.

This disturbing case serves as a reminder of the need for sensitivity and fairness in resolving disputes involving both humans and animals.
